My appreciation for food started early. My Mennonite grandmother was an incredible cook, known for comfort foods, soups, and a kitchen full of things canned and preserved from scratch. Growing up around that kind of cooking gave me a foundation of real, honest flavors.
At some point, eating became more interactive. I started trying to break things down by guessing ingredients, identifying spices, and reconstructing recipes in my head. What began as a game gradually became a way of understanding food.
Around 2010, I started brewing mead, experimented with beer kits, and began exploring beer more seriously. I was drawn to Belgian ales, weissbiers, and lambics, styles with complexity, character, and depth. That is when I started paying closer attention to how flavors develop, balance, and finish.
In 2015, I had the opportunity to travel for work, which gave me the chance to visit a wide range of breweries and tasting environments. Places like Tilquin, Cantillon, Hill Farmstead, Allagash, Tree House, and others helped shape how I evaluate and think about beer, not just as a drink, but as a crafted experience.
Bucks County is home to a growing number of excellent breweries, wineries, and restaurants. This site is where I document those experiences, breaking down flavors, evaluating establishments, and sharing a clear perspective on what each place and product offers.
This is not about hype or crowd opinions. It is one palate, developed over time, focused on understanding and explaining taste.
